Songs
Our repertoire draws from many styles linked by a common arrangement style -- powerful in vocal instrumentation and rhythm.
We'll take on funk and rock, if it includes big horns, big backup vocals, or wall of guitar instrumentation, we're game. Any groove built for dancing is up for grabs, but we also love the messages in the lyrics that these grooves often accompany, so we are heavily influenced by many of the social statement songs from the 60s and 70s -- Sly and the Family Stone, Tower of Power, Blood, Sweat and Tears, ...
Yet we will draw on a variety of music genres and virtually nothing will be off-limits. From New Orleans funk to progressive rock, latin dance groove to gospel. Maybe even an attempt to do a vocal drum and bugle core type song, or more locally appropriate, a Venice Beach percussion jam, but performed only with voices.
These are just a few of the groups that will give you a glimpse of what to expect, though we hope to break new ground with the extensive vocal horn and rhythm section arrangements, as these examples are smaller groups than our goal.
